Dolcemente usually means sweetly; have you heard it used for softly?
Piano can mean slow, but also means soft. For example, in written music the terms piano and forte tell the musician to play soft or loud. A piano (the instrument) is called a pianoforte in Italian, literally a 'soft-loud.'

Parla piano means to speak slow no to speak softly. I think that is a misread.
